Jacob Micflikier is going to be joining the Florida Everblades of the ECHL in their playoff push for The Kelly Cup. Micflikier has been out of action since February 20th (17 games) when he suffered an ankle injury. Prior to that he missed nine games in January with a broken foot. In 39 games with the Rochester Americans this season Micflikier has scored 4 goals and 12 assists for 16 points.
Micflikier is looked upon as an offensive threat for the Blades, in eight games played this season for them he has scored nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points.
When he’ll be joining the Blades we don’t know. He’s still in Rochester and has been practicing recently with the team.
The Everblades open their first round of playoff action on April 10 and 11th.
I wrote on March 23rd in an injury update Jacob Micflikier was expected back within two and a half weeks, which would have him playing in the final three games of the Amerks season.
It’s not likely that he’ll stick around with the second worst team in the AHL instead of joining the number one team in the ECHL. Chances are we’ve seen him play his last game this season in an Amerks uniform this season.
He’s a free agent after this season and he would like to return to be offered another contract. He’s small, fast, and proven he can score…just needs some good luck to not get injured.
The Florida Everblades clinched the Brabham Cup regular season championship for most team points this season. It’s Florida’s second Brabham Cup in the club’s 11-year history.
