Every year in the American Hockey League when affiliation agreements come to an end the talk is that the New York Rangers will be the new affiliate of whatever team. The agreement between the Amerks and Panthers expires at the end of the 10-11 season with talks ending November 1st (until at least the end of the season).
With the pending change the immediate talk was that the Amerks would affiliate with the Rangers and even before this current season starts we can say that it is NOT happening.
All of the talk out of Hartford has been about the Wolfpack changing their name to the Connecticut Whale half way through this season and also the extension of an agreement between AEG and Madison Square Garden.
And the big thought on the name change was for Baldwin to finally, finally close a deal with AEG Management and Madison Square Garden that will run through 2013.
The End. The Rangers are affiliated with Hartford through at least 2013. Can things change? Of course. Is it likely? No.
Every hockey expert agrees that the Florida Panthers are heading in the right direction.. the grass may not be greener with another team.
