The Amerks will end training camp Friday morning with a morning skate at Blue Cross Arena at 9am before hitting the road for two preseason games against the Toronto Marlies. The two games will be the last chance for many players to try and earn a spot on the Amerks roster or be sent to an ECHL team. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be making it to either game. If anyone is feel free to share a writeup of some sort about the games.
The first preseason game is Friday night at 6pm at Bob Fallis Arena in Bradford, Ontario. The second game is Saturday night at Gaylord Powless Arena in Ohsweken, Ontario.
Admission for the second game in Ohsweken is $7.00 per person, while children 12 and under are free. Amerks Owner Curt Styres will donate all of the proceeds to Six Nations minor youth hockey programs. Prior to the game, Amerks Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan, Amerks Director of Player Personnel Jody Gage, Head Coach Chuck Weber and Assistant Coach Jason Cipolla will hold a youth hockey clinic at the arena from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Amerks and Panthers will both make cuts by the end of the weekend and by Tuesday morning we should have an idea of what the opening night roster will look like. There’s still some concerns both offensively and on defense but we’ll wait until next week to really dive into things.
