This past week began with Rochester residents reading a letter from Terry Pegula in the Sunday paper about winning a Calder Cup and ended with the news that a Rochester native was signed by the Sabres to spend time in Rochester. Â Not a bad week! Â For those who aren’t hooked on hockey news like many of us I’ll try and run a weekly recap of the weeks past news items posted on the site.
Pegula’s Letter: The Goal Now is to Win a Calder Cup — A letter written by Terry Pegula to Rochester hockey fans talking about the years ahead and that winning a Calder Cup is a priority on their way to winning a Stanley Cup.
AHL Alignment and Playoff Format for 2011-2012 Season — The Amerks stay in the West.. 3 divisions in each Conference. Top team in each division makes the playoffs and then the next five in each Conference.
Amerks to Have Solid Goaltending, Drew MacIntyre Signs — MacIntyre is considered one of the best in the American Hockey League. Having him and Leggio stopping pucks in front of the Amerks net is a great thing.
Amerks Roster to see Greece Native Derek Whitmore and Veteran Colin Stuart — The headline speaks for itself. Whitmore is looking to continue his growth as a hockey player and continue to improve year over year. Stuart is a veteran winger that was a big part of the Portland Pirates offense last season.

Results of #Patchgate Brought up by Amerks Fans — #Patchgate speaks for itself. Check out the results of the survey. In a nutshelf, about 50% of the fans who took the survey prefer no patch. Or do you look at it that 50% of the fans who took it do want one?

The Sabres do recognizing the need to add some scoring to Rochesters roster and will be working on that.
