The AHL announced this morning that Colin Blackwell has been suspended for two games “as a consequence of his actions in a game vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Feb. 16.”
Blackwell was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline). He’ll miss the game today against Binghamton and also February 21 vs Syracuse.
Unless something else happened in the game that we’re not aware of this is a result of his hit against Lukas Bengtsson that occurred less than 90 seconds in the first period of the game. A hit that everyone at the time, including the Amerks staff, believed was a clean hit.

Watching it back the supplementary discipline is likely because of the way Blackwell raised his hands towards the head area as the two players collided.
Will update the post if any additional news becomes available.
