Goalie Jonas Johansson and defenseman Lawrence Pilut will join Chris Taylor in representing the Rochester Americans at the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic in Ontario, California. The fourth year goalie is having his best season as a pro and the second year defenseman will get another shot at attending the event.
Johansson is second in the American Hockey League in goals against average (2.00), second in save percentage (0.933), and has won half of the teams games (10). He has played in 15 of the 32 games played this season by the Amerks. In his first three pro seasons he had only played in 19 games combined after spending a majority of his time in Cincinnati.
Lawrence Pilut was also selected for the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic but had to miss the event while on recall to the Buffalo Sabres. This season through 27 games played Pilut has 20 points (4G+16A). Pilut is a power play leader which is where 10 of his 16 assists have come from this season, one better than the 2018/2019 season. He is only six points away from matching his point total from the 2018/2019 season. He has already matched his goal total of four.
The 2020 AHL All-Star Classic events will be held January 26 (Skills Competition) and 27 (3 on 3 games) in Ontario, California.
