Amerks Summer News Stories, Getting Caught Up

It has been a busy summer for the Rochester Americans with a lot of great news and a couple of stories that have generated some bad press.  Looking at the bigger picture it has been a positive summer.  Here’s the start of “round up” type posts I’ll be doing once the season gets started.  There’s …

Alexander Salak Dreams of the NHL

The recent season that ended for goaltender Alexander Salak of TPS Turku was similar to that of Mike Brodeurs with the Rochester Americans, great goalies playing for bad teams.  The Florida Panthers recently signed Salak to a 2yr contract, a goaltender that is called the next Dominik Hasek by many people that have seen him …

Apparently my April Fools Day post wasn’t that far fetched, except they went with someone other than Chris Beckford-Tseu.  The 26 year old goaltender finished this season in the CHL with a 16-20-6 record with a …

Plante Possibly Done; Duffy to the Blades; Team Photo Giveaway

Tyler Plante is possibly done for the season with a shoulder injury.  With only six games left in the season chances are David Shantz will be riding out the rest of the season in an Amerks uniform.  His shoulder had been bothering him for a few weeks, sounds as if it’s caught up to him.  …

David Shantz arrived at Broome County arena less than a half hour before face off, started the game, and stopped 50 of 52 shots prior to the Amerks losing in the shootout against the Binghamton Senators. Shantz was called up from the Dayton Bombers to start the game because both Mike Brodeur and Tyler Plante …
